Welcome to Dive Professionals Instructor Institute (DPII) at Captain Slate’s Atlantis Dive Center located in the Dive Capitol of the World, Key Largo, FL.
DPII is licensed by the Florida Commission for Independent Education and is approved by the Veterans Administration to accept veterans’ benefits. We also provide lodging and job placement assistance and resume building assistance for our candidates.
DPII offers a SCUBA training program for anyone interested in pursuing a career as a diving professional regardless of your current level of training or if you have no SCUBA training at all. Our training programs are designed and scheduled to follow a logical pattern of progression, training and experience to take you from a non-diver all the way to an International Scuba Instructor. Our programs are set up in ‘modules’ designed for you to achieve your goal and simplify the process of becoming a true dive professional. You simply take the ‘modules’ required from where you enter the program until you complete the training and become a dive professional.
DPII faculty includes the most respected instructor trainers in the industry. Our three Course Directors, Capt. Spencer Slate, Skip Dawson, and Frazier Nivens have an accumulated a dive history of 129 years! Capt. Slate was a high school and college educator /administrator and has the know-how and ability to make your learning experience fun and enjoyable. Add to that our experienced and competent staff of instructors, boat captains and dive masters and you are by far dealing with the most experienced staff in the industry! Our vast experience and training allows DPII to offer a myriad of certifications through numerous certifying agencies, SDI-TDI, NAUI, SEI, PADI, DAN , Red Cross and others.
