Daily Mangrove Eco-Tours
Come visit our lovely inner mangrove islands and creeks full of natural wildlife. While our beautiful coral reef is the most dove in the world, our estimated 540,000 acres of thriving mangrove which support and give life to our gorgeous reefs is not to be missed.
We leave on our Capt. Slate’s Mangrove-Eco tours on one of three huge 40’ tour boats, which can carry up to 36 passenger/snorkelers. Our narrated tours start 100 yards from our store in North Creek - a 5 mile adventure that takes you to Largo Sound, a mangrove surrounded inland lake. We stop and snorkel (if you want to) the mangrove islands and shoreline and see the hundreds of creatures who live there. You may encounter: Snook; Grey, Mangrove, and Schoolmaster Snapper; Tarpon; Jack; Sheeps head; Red Drum; Juvenile Porkfish; Barracuda; Blue Angelfish and more! You may even see a Seahorse!
For those who are interested in our lovely myriad of Florida Keys birds, the branches of the mangroves serve as roosts and rookeries for many coastal and wading birds such as: Brown Pelicans; Roseate Spoonbills; Frigatebird; Double-crested Cormorants; Brown Noddy; Great White, Green and Wurdemann’s Herons; Osprey; Snowy Egret; Bald Eagle; Peregrine Falcon; and occasionally a Mangrove or Saltmarsh Snake. It is almost impossible to look in any direction both underwater or above and not see life.
Call now and book your spot, a don’t miss adventure in our lovely Mangrove treasure here in the Florida Keys.
